Redhills Durham Miners’ Hall is one of the North East’s most iconic cultural venues, located just outside Durham city centre. Often described as the historic home of the Durham Miners’ Association, the building is a powerful symbol of the region’s industrial heritage and community spirit.

With its striking Edwardian architecture and impressive auditorium, Redhills offers a distinctive setting for live performance. The main hall provides a large seated capacity, making it ideal for headline concerts and major cultural events. Rich in character and history, it combines period features with a warm, atmospheric feel, making it a memorable venue for audiences and artists alike.

As one of the flagship venues for Durham Jazz Festival, Redhills provides a fitting backdrop for large-scale performances within the festival programme.

Redhills is located in the heart of Durham City, within 10 minutes’ walk from Durham Train Station and Durham Bus Station.

By Car: (From the A1): Exit the A1 at J62 and follow the A690 to Durham City Centre. Cross the Millburngate Bridge and stay on the A690 heading towards the Durham Viaduct Roundabout. Turn right on the roundabout onto Durham Road, then immediately left onto Sutton Street before heading up towards Redhills on Flass Street. Redhills is at the top of Flass Street.

By Car: (From the A167): Follow the A167 to Nevilles Cross and turn onto the A690 towards Durham City Centre. Follow the A690 to Sutton Street, turning off just before the Durham Viaduct (still Sutton Street), before turning left onto Flass Street. Redhills is at the top of Flass Street.

By Bus: Durham Bus Station is on North Road in Durham City Centre, just 7 minutes’ walk from Redhills, serving local, regional and national bus routes.

By Train: Redhills is an 8-minute walk (or 2-minute taxi ride) from Durham Station. The station is on the East Coast Main Line, with regular trains from Newcastle, Edinburgh and Dundee to the North, and London, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Doncaster and York to the South.
