Tom Atkinson’s Electric Miles: Celebrating Jack Johnson
An exciting event for Durham Jazz Festival to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the great Miles Davis.
The legendary jazz musician Miles Davis was born in 1926 making this year, the first year of the Durham Jazz Festival, the centennial year. To celebrate this anniversary Durham Jazz Festival is excited to present a tribute to to some of Miles’ most exciting, innovate and historic music with Tom Atkinson’s Electric Miles.
Formed initially as a ‘one off’ in 2021 to celebrate 50 years since the release of Miles Davis’ historic ‘Tribute To Jack Johnson’, this lineup of musicians, each with decades of experience on the UK jazz scene (and much further afield) have come together to revisit the music of that particular album, more from Miles’ back catalogue, and the music of others involved (John McLaughlin to name but one) at Durham Jazz Festival 2026.
